Today is our last full day at our home stays. We began by touring the coffee farm behind our houses where we saw animals like pigs and sloths. On the farm we also tried different items like star fruit and mint leaves. We then visited the local elementary school. They performed a few different dances with us, and then the kids showed us around the school. After dancing and playing with the schoolchildren, we visited some goats and were able to feed the meat milk before our lunch. After that, we traveled to lunch and ate some chicken with pasta; we also got to try some rice pudding. We followed lunch with a trip to the local high school to re-paint the sidewalks green. They only have two schools here, elementary for k through 6 and high school for 7 through 11. My favorite part of the day was either feeding the goats or talking with the Costa Rican children. We ended the day by talking about single story stereotypes and how stereotypes can affect us while traveling. We read a TedTalk about how stereotypes negatively affect us in day-to-day life. Then we discussed and talked about how it’s true. After that we went back to our home stays. Overall it was a good day!
