In the face of the pressing problems that exist in the world, we created SStS in 2007 to give students an avenue to explore real-world answers to a pressing question: “What can we do?” 

What began as a program with one school, 30 students, and three NGO partners has grown to include 12 sites across four continents, with 14 partner schools and a vibrant network of alumni, partners, and donors.

Our mission is to inspire and support generations of ethical leaders. We believe that ethical leadership is the most fundamental resource for addressing the challenges the world faces today. We need ethical leaders—those who will lead with the skills necessary to work in a globalized world, balancing growth, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship. 

Our mission leads to our central purpose: to grow a global network of ethical leaders.

Shoulder-to-Shoulder is an organization of four partner groups: schools, nonprofits, businesses, and philanthropists. Together, we create a broad range of programming for all members in our mission to inspire and support ethical leadership. We continue to push forward, having seen time and again that collaboration across sectors creates a sustainable strategy to advance our mission and scale its impact.
