Complete the Applied Ethical Leadership Certificate Internship
The Applied Ethical Leadership (AEL) Internship is a semester-long certificate program for rising juniors and seniors returning from their Shoulder-to-Shoulder field studies, to expand their understanding and practice of ethical leadership. As AEL Interns, students will meet virtually with a cross-school cohort of peers (other SStS alumni) to learn leadership skills and develop a project in their local community related to an area or issue of their choosing.
AEL students will also receive monthly one-on-one coaching from a Peer Coach, who is an older Shoulder-to-Shoulder alum and early-career professional with a depth of experience in the ethical leadership skills and fields students are exploring through their projects.
Finally, each AEL Intern must choose a Faculty Advisor, who is an adult at their school that has agreed to meet weekly with them to support their project development and outreach to community members within and beyond their school to make their changemaking ideas a reality. Upon successful completion of this program, which includes a final public presentation of their project to their school community (and beyond), the Shoulder-to-Shoulder team will support AEL Interns in communicating their progress and involvement in this program in college applications, scholarships and any other relevant opportunities.
