Inspire and Support Generations of Ethical Leaders

Growing a global network of ethical leaders

Without ethical leaders, even the best ideas are at risk.

Donations allow us to make high-quality educational programs possible for students who may not otherwise be able to afford them. All donations make a difference. Students Shoulder-to-Shoulder is a 501c3, non-profit, and all contributions are fully tax-deductible.

Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire and support generations of ethical leaders. We believe that ethical leadership is the most fundamental resource for addressing the challenges the world faces today. We need ethical leaders—those who will lead with the skills necessary to work in a globalized world, balancing growth, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

Our mission leads to our central purpose: to grow a global network of ethical leaders.

The only way to address humanity’s major challenges is through collaboration - schools, businesses, nonprofits, philanthropists. Working shoulder-to-shoulder as partners, we can nurture the “next generation” as our most precious, regenerative resource By inspiring them as today’s future leaders through transformative learning experiences, we can shape them as tomorrow’s ethical leaders.

Our impact — Testimonials

Christiana Beveridge

Physician | Finishing Residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center

India Alumna ’07, Kenya & Bolivia Instructor, Board Member (6+ Years)

My life has been shaped by the perspective I gained as a student on the first SSTS course over ten years ago, and I want as many students as possible to have the same opportunity. SSTS strives to empower students to combat what we call “the paralysis of enormity” when looking at what can be overwhelming global challenges. Learning to break problems into smaller pieces, to value even small improvements, and to take responsibility for working towards solutions guided me toward a career where I want to tackle one of our society’s biggest challenges – the health care system.

Through my experience with Shoulder-to-Shoulder, I developed a desire to serve others who are experiencing hardship. SStS is structured to not merely give handouts, but to empower the people with whom they work. This model of service actually transforms communities and allows others to flourish rather than becoming dependent on temporary aid efforts. My experience with SStS helped me decide on my undergraduate degree in social work, my master’s degree in leadership and impacted my career in development where I work shoulder-to-shoulder with immigrants and refugees in Spain.
