I chose to reflect on compassion today because we have been with each other for a little over a week now and our compassion needs to grow as we progress. We have seen many leaders show compassion such as Jungle Mike when he started to care for and take interest in bugs. He took that extra step to create a home for them. He had given up a stable job and just followed his dream to care for insects. As we finish our work with Turtle Trax we see how they demonstrate compassion because the workers and volunteers sacrifice so much of their time to help the turtles because they aren’t able to protect themselves.
We have also had to show lots of compassion to each other and ourselves. Recognizing when you need a break isn’t a weakness but rather a strong sign of compassion towards yourself. Keeping our spirits high and having patience is very important moving forward as we go into the last week. Treating each other with kindness because it is all our first time in an experience like this.
