So today we got up after a good night’s sleep on a soccer field in a tiny community in the middle of the Andes mountains. We ate in the breakfast tent, got packed up, and headed out on our last day of the trek. The hike today was mostly on a dirt road down to the hot springs at Lares. When we were almost down to the hot springs, our guide, Herbert decided to take us on a pretty scary trail up the mountain to see a view of the valley and the hot springs. Once we got up it was beautiful and we could see all the way down the valley and we were looking straight down on the springs. After that we headed back down the mountain and dipped in the hot springs for a while. After that we had a great lunch of alpaca and got on a bus to retrace the steps of our trek all the way back to Ollantaytambo. From there we got on a train to go Aguas Calientes. When we got there Herbert took us to a restaurant that had awesome burgers. After dinner we were all exhausted so we checked into the hotel where we will sleep anxiously before our day at Machu Picchu!
