[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text letter_spacing=””]Today the SStS group worked with the Greater NOLA Master Gardeners Organization and in my opinion, I learned a lot about planting and especially leveling! My partner and I had to level out cinder blocks so that the workers could create pools to hold certain plants. Other volunteers in my group organized and labeled some plants so that they could begin being planted, others moved plants in order to create new space for incoming iris plants. Along with that, we all were there to help wherever we were needed. For me, the hardest and most challenging task for me was leveling out the cinder blocks because it took a lot of mental work to decide how to make the blocks all level. Not to mention, the heat was blazing and I don’t think I’ve ever sweat as much as I did today. So it was a challenge, but after I was done, I was very proud of myself and I’m sure others were very proud of themselves too! Lifting all those cinder blocks though made my arms feel very strong and I got lots of #gainz!! The coolest thing I learned today was that in our 5 ½ hours of work, it would’ve taken the workers 2 months to do what we did today which was pretty awesome.

Next we got some snowballs that were delicious and well deserved after today’s long day of work. Then we all headed back to the CGR house and began getting ready for dinner! We went to a place in the French Quarter called Cafe Maspero and it was delicious! After dinner, we took a walk to an area where we could take pictures and one of my instructors, Andy, and I have been trying to find a Nutria all week and today we saw one, but it got away! So we were very sad about that, but now the Nutria knows that we are here so one day we will catch one!

Then once we got back to dinner we finished up our lens presentations! I was quite nervous for mine but in the end my group ended out doing just fine! So overall today was a really fun day and I enjoyed every minute of it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
