Today was an adventure that was unexpectedly unique, we started the day similar to many others with the noises of Caribbean waking us up and leading us to a breakfast of French toast and a variety of fruit. After the usual breakfast routine the group boarded two boats to take us to La Loma cacao farm where we were led on an eye opening tour through a farm, learning about how the fruits and vegetables we eat every single day start growing and ultimately make it into dishes. This tour concluded in a meal at the La Loma restaurant where we got to eat a dish prepared with all the herbs, spices, and vegetables that we had just learned about. After our meal we returned to our respective community centers (mine being San Cristobal). After a chaotic yet fun afternoon of playing and learning it was time to return to Bastimentos for the night. The afternoon was also rather similar to others with a quick swim in the ocean before walking to dinner. After a dinner of chicken we headed back to the hotel with full stomachs and one goal in mind, finding ice cream. After a day of learning and playing and experiencing new things it’s easy to end the day feeling fulfilled and ready for more.
