Kathmandu, Nepal
Today was our group’s first day in Nepal. We were all pretty jet lagged, but we did visit Boudhanath Stupa. We also went over some norms for our group. First impression of Nepal is that it’s really rich with culture—a culture that’s a lot different than what we’re used to. The main religions are Hinduism and Buddhism. The difference in religion made less of a difference than I thought it would. People dress differently and have different things that are important to them and their religion, but people are people. We’re all trying to somewhat adjust to a whole different way of life in order to better understand the people we want to help and so we can really listen to them and what their needs are. I think we’re doing a pretty good job for being here only a day. Everyone is interested in hearing what the locals have to say about the history and the culture. I think that if we keep this up, we’re bound to be successful on this trip.
