Today was our first day of working in community centers in Cristobal and Bastimentos. We split into two groups of seven and started work around two. My groups made our way over to Cristobal, where most kids did not speak very much English. Our first activity was a game of soccer. It started out as us walking around in the muddy field kicking the ball, and finished as a full-fledged game with kids of all ages running and slipping all over the place. We all washed off in the creek, some of us ended up needing to borrow clothes to change in to. Although it was a messy day and we had gaps in our soccer and language skills we finished our first day excited to come back tomorrow and do it all again.
