The day started out on a sad note. We were leaving Rancho Quemado and had to say goodbye to Alice, Glenda, Hope, and more of the amazing people who had taken care of us over the past week or so. I didn’t realize how much we had bonded until it was time to say goodbye. Alice made me promise that I would come back to visit and I definitely think I will take her up on that. We drove away from Rancho Quemado with teary eyes because that also meant the trip would end soon and we would be forced to say goodbye to all of our friends. But enough sad talk, we started blasting Britney Spears to make us feel better. Trust me when I say it lightened up the mood. After around 40ish minutes of driving through the jungle, we made it to Drakes Bay. It was absolutely stunning. We took a boat from the main island to get to the hotel and it was so much fun. I forgot how much I loved the feeling of wind blowing in my hair while on a boat. When we got off the boat we trekked through the jungle to our hotel room which was about a 10 minute hike uphill. Very slippery but thankfully we were all alright. Once we were all settled in our rooms we had lunch, which were amazing beef burritos, and then we headed down to the beach. On our way we saw a monkey on our porch EATING our chips! It was the first time I had seen a monkey and it looked unreal sticking its hands into our huge doritos bag and licking the sugar off of our gummy worms. But anyway, we headed down to the beach and it was actually so much fun. The water was the perfect temperature and the waves were just right. Chicken fighting on Isa’s shoulders and playing marco polo was one of the best parts of the trip for sure. After the beach, we were all playing spoons, card games, and more. Then, we headed down to the common area and blasted some good music and played lots and lots of foosball. I hadn’t felt competitive in such a long time since then. After a few hours we had dinner which was rice and chicken followed by an amazing brownie. Now we are going to head back to the rooms and get ready for tomorrow.
