Today was our second day in Cusco. We woke up early to have breakfast and start our adventure. After breakfast, we met our tour guide Maria who was with us the whole day. She took us to visit some Cusco archaeological sites such as Qenqo and Sacsayhuaman, which were built during the Inca Empire.

At the sites, we are able to go through dark caves full of Inca energy, slide down natural rockslides, and to get a close look at the funny looking llamas, which we are all abscessed with.

It was really captivating to listen to Maria talk. I would ask a simple question and she would give me a very long answer full of information about into traditions and culture in general. You could tell that Maria is very proud of her culture and is eager to share it with everyone. It was interesting to hear that here in Cusco, they are strongly focusing on preserving Quechua (the language of the indigenous people before Spanish colonization) by making it an obligatory course in schools.

Anyway, Josepht got really excited about the 12 sided rock (see earlier post) that I didn’t see because I was buying proving chocolate from a lady. Today was great, and after two days of no sweets, we were able to get some really good Peruvian cheesecakes for dessert after dinner. We are all very excited to get to Munaychay tomorrow!
