The following day, we discussed the question–“what does it mean to be a global citizen?” Some of the words that came up were open-minded, resilient, caring, determined, and risk-taking. After thinking about this, I concluded that these adjectives mean nothing unless one is able to realize the world’s imperfections, rather flaws, and have a desire to change them for something better. The world will never be a perfect place, but we as a humanity can collectively put forth our hearts and minds to ensure that each life spent on earth is for a meaningful cause. With many temptations and material desires out there, it can be hard to stay true to what you know is right. Your faith and patience will be tested. You might not succeed. But regardless of the outcome, you must persevere, even in the face of insurmountable odds. In fact, I can assure you that you will fail at one point or another, but that one time you do succeed in choosing the right, that one time you do follow your heart, you will remember the feeling of living life with a purpose.
