On Saturday we started our morning with a light run and learned some new running drills from Coach Abel. Later in the day we started our Homestays and met our “Mama” hosts and their families. We all began by walking each other to our specific houses together while meeting each host. The home stay experience was an extreme change to anything we had ever tried before, immersing ourselves into a completely new and drastically different culture for a night. At first it was all a little scary, but after meeting and working with our host families, our relationships flourished and the feeling of such drastic change became non-existent. The new cultural differences we found ourselves embracing and pursuing then became second-nature, and our new Kenyan personalities were found for the new family we had been welcomed into and the families we maintained at home.
