Stark Beauty

Today we experienced Kathmandu, throughout the day I observed religion take action into people’s everyday lives. Going into Kathmandu was a whole new experience I’m extremely grateful to have had; the stark difference from my life at home is so big that I don’t know what words exactly to use. Throughout my life I have traveled to many places but nowhere quite as unique as Nepal. I saw the beauty of Nepal through art, rather than art from many centuries ago. I saw new art encapsulating what it meant to be a modern Nepali. Beauty comes in many different forms, having the bravery to experience them is the step many hesitate to take.

Today I’ve seen new life. Not anything different from home, for example, homeless people. But seeing the people in person in front of you is more striking. I’ve seen many homeless dogs. However this isn’t the same as we refer to “Rez Dogs”. I’ve seen different lifestyles compared to the US. The Nepali lifestyle is not easy. I’ve seen children walking to the streets alone, from school. The driving here doesn’t compare to the US driving skills. Although when I asked “are there many car accidents?” he said none. We also got to see the true Goddess in person. Hearing her story of being The Goddess makes me realize how appreciative I am of the way I live life. This whole experience was breathtaking, and pulled the strings of my heart. But I am very grateful to witness all of this upon my eyes, instead of a screen.
