The day started at 7:a.m wake-up and breakfast at 8 of eggs and toast. with a 9:00 a.m. departure time. Our first visit was to the Maras salt pools. After the Maras salt pools, it was a short bus ride to the moray valley to look at some ancient ‘laboratory’ where the Incans experimented with acclimating crops to higher altitudes. The laboratories were organized in large circles leveled on top of each other. After, we had lunch in a nice meadow with a gorgeous view of the incredible mountains. Our next location was Ollantaytambo, it was full of incredible Inca architecture and fun local shops. We didn’t hike much, but when we did exercise we definitely felt the altitude of 10.500 ft. After a quick stop at a pottery studio, we made it home and left the leaders behind to take a short walk and explore the town of Urubamba. Our first full day was full of group bonding and adjusting to the new climate.
